Using RFID technology (with tags placed on or behind detectors at or after installation) and the retro-fittable Communications module, Testifire exchanges data between field installed RFID Tags and selected PDA's. Information is stored and updated both on the permanently field sited tags and, via Bluetooth to the service engineer's PDA (with possibilities for onward integration to back office systems). Two core benefits result:
Audit & traceability: interrogation of either tag (in the field) or digital test reports provides confirmation of what detector was tested, when, by whom and with what result. Key not only for 3rd party accountability but also logistic planning and control when annual tests are being spread quarterly
Automated testing: while many suggest that detectors look 'rather similar' one to another these days, the test requirements become more complex (and with programmable detectors, can vary depending on set up). With Testifire Communications Module in 'auto test' mode, pre-programmed RFID tags, will command Testifire to perform the correct test for a given detector, eliminating the risk of incorrect or incomplete testing.
While the Testifire Communications Module is currently in Beta test and part of an ongoing development programme, the module itself is a retrofit option. All Testifire models produced to date are capable of accepting the module in its current (and proposed) guise(s).
